The Remember Pulse: 49 Days of Action Campaign as part of #HonorThemWithAction will be providing 49 action ideas over the course of 7 weeks in honor of each of the lives taken at Pulse Nightclub one year ago. Every Monday we will provide you with a list of 7 actions you can take for that week. They will include ways to reflect on Pulse but will also highlight ways to take action on the platform issues of the Equality March for Unity and Pride: Biphobia, Disability Rights, Elder Rights, Faith & Religion, HIV/AIDS, Immigration Justice, Indigenous/Two Spirit, Income Inequality, International, Legislative Issues, Racial Justice, Reproductive Justice, Transphobia, Violence, Youth. We hope that your actions each week will help to grow this movement as we take on actions in later weeks and we encourage you to share this campaign and your actions with your email and social media network:

THIS WEEK’S ACTIONS… (click here for Past Actions)

Day 8 | Monday, June 19, 2017

Last week we all received the devastating news that the murderer of Philando Castile was going to walk free. As a result, many Black LGBTQ people and families are feeling as though the second amendment does not apply to them and that their lives have less value in this country. One of the Equality March’s platform issues is racial justice. Use the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and advocate to your local elected officials and police departments to ensure that their policies treat all people equally under the law. You can also endorse the Movement for Black Lives platform HERE.

Day 9 | Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Take today to learn about the Republican’s healthcare plan and share these resources from Families USA to educate and mobilize your family and friends about it as well.

Day 10| Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Contact your members of Congress and demand they oppose the current plans underway in both the House and the Senate to repeal the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood. Ask that they share with you the reasoning for their planned vote and report back what you learn about their stance HERE.

Day 11| Thursday, June 22, 2017

Reflect on and then write a letter to the editor to your local paper opposing the Affordable Care Act repeal plans in Congress and the defunding of Planned Parenthood using the information you’ve learned this week.

Day 12| Friday, June 23, 2017

States across the country are considering bills to defund Planned Parenthood. Call your state lawmakers to ensure they are advocating and voting to prevent the closure of these vital life-saving clinics. Planned Parenthood clinics across the country provide more than abortion care (only 3% of care offered). Their services also include Medicaid, the Title X program, Zika prevention programs, HIV prevention grants, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grants to prevent sexual assault, successful sex education programs, the CDC National Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening program, maternal and child health programs, STD and infertility prevention grants, and more.

Day 13| Saturday, June 24, 2017

Check out this list of activities happening around the country and identify actions you can join in person to protect and improve the Affordable Care Act and improve. Place them on your calendar and recruit 5 people to join you.

Day 14| Sunday, June 25, 2017

Share on social media and with friends and family the actions you’ve taken this week as a part of the #HonorThemWithAction campaign. Please report your activities this week back to the campaign HERE.
